Popular Nigerian singer Aituaje Iruobe, popularly known as Waje, has opened up about her preferences when it comes to choosing a life partner.

In a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the 45-year-old singer stated that she cannot date or marry a man who is struggling financially.

The mother of one explained that, being past her 20s, she does not have the time or patience to “build” with a partner.

“I can’t marry someone who is not successful, and here’s why: first of all, I’m not in my 20s, so we are not growing together,” she said.

“A man leads; he leads by selling aspirations to me. I have to aspire to see him lead. And if he can’t inspire me to grow, we can’t be partners. So, success is part of it. Faith and emotional intelligence are also part of it.”

Waje also revealed that she cannot date a younger man.

“We will have issues. I’m very pragmatic. Sometimes I have to hold myself with my siblings, my friends, and my family members. Imagine if it was a husband? He would get tired. I would be treating him like my child. He would hate me,” she added.
