Asante Kotoko’s interim head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, has stressed the importance of thorough preparation ahead of the club’s campaign in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors secured a spot in the continental competition after clinching the 2024/25 FA Cup title with a narrow 2-1 win over lower-tier side Golden Kick FC.
Zito, who took over after the departure of Prosper Narteh Ogum, believes the team must undergo careful planning and targeted recruitment to succeed on the African stage.
“We will prepare well for Africa. We will bring in some players to improve the team,” he said.
“I played seven matches with this team, and I am able to determine where we have to improve. If we are able to do that, we will achieve our objective by playing in the group phase of the CAF Confederation Cup,” he added.
Despite guiding the club to FA Cup success, Kotoko’s management has yet to make a decision on Zito’s long-term future with the team.
