Fifteen persons have so far indicated their readiness to contest former President John Dramani Mahama for the right to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the 2020 elections.

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr said the fifteen persons are all members of the NDC in good standing with some being persons who held positions in the former Mahama administration.

“About fifteen, I mean fifteen persons are all willing to contest as flagbearers of the NDC…they are lacing their boots…,” he said on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo.

Since the NDC lost the 2016 elections, several people in the party have been rumoured to be interested in contesting to lead the party.

These persons include Goosie Tandoh who many believe was offered a platform to launch his Presidential ambition at the 2016 celebrations of the 31st December coup.

Former La Dadekotopon MP, Nii Amassah Namoale and a communicator of the party, Stephen Atubiga are the only ones who have openly declared their intention to contest the flagbearership slot.

Namoale has said that he would beat the former President hands down if he contests him.

But Kwesi Pratt claimed on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo that he is privy to the fact that as many as fifteen persons are already preparing to file their papers and contest for the flagbearership slot when the party opens nomination.

These persons, he said always hide their intention while in public but are busily scheming to win support for their candidature.
