Ghanaian rapper Kwaw Kese has called for greater civility in online discussions, saying disagreements on social media should not automatically descend into personal attacks.
The musician, in a post on X, expressed frustration with users who resort to name-calling and abuse when responding to opinions they do not agree with.
He argued that social media users should be capable of challenging views, exchanging ideas and pointing out flaws in arguments without attacking the individuals behind them.
Kwaw Kese wrote: “If you can’t dialogue, constructively criticize or share your opinion without insulting someone under their post then you are a fool. I’m sorry but it is what it is.”
His remarks have drawn attention to the manner in which disagreements are handled across social media platforms, particularly when discussions involve controversial issues or public figures.
Some users, however, took issue with the rapper’s choice of words.
Critics pointed to the irony of his call for respectful communication while referring to people who engage in online insults as “fools”.
Others appeared to support his broader message, arguing that differences in opinion should be addressed through reasoned debate rather than abuse.
