Ghanaian musician Kelvyn Boy has admitted that his loyalty to Stonebwoy during their time together influenced some of the things he said about other artistes and their camps.
Reflecting on his time with Stonebwoy and the rivalries that surrounded the Bhim Nation camp, Kelvyn Boy said he sometimes made comments about other camps out of loyalty rather than from his own personal convictions.
Speaking on Hitz FM, he acknowledged that being part of a particular camp at the time shaped how he viewed and responded to some of the tensions within the music industry.
He said he now feels bad about taking sides, as he has learnt that artistes may have their differences but ultimately share the same industry and should be able to coexist.
Kelvyn Boy also recalled meeting artistes he had previously been involved in disputes with and realising that the personal relationships were very different from the rivalries created around their respective fan bases and camps.
According to him, some artistes he eventually interacted with were welcoming and supportive, making him question why he had allowed industry divisions to influence his own actions and comments.
He further criticised the culture of comparing artistes and encouraging fans to choose sides, describing it as unhealthy for the Ghanaian music industry.
Kelvyn Boy said when artistes such as Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Sarkodie and others perform on the same stage, fans should be able to appreciate each artiste without turning the occasion into a competition over who is better.
He argued that music lovers can support their favourite artistes without attacking others, noting that such behaviour only creates unnecessary divisions among musicians.
The ‘Down Flat’ hitmaker now believes that the various camps and fan bases within Ghanaian music should move away from unnecessary rivalry and allow artistes to build relationships and support one another.
