Residents of Agric in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region have been left in shock after a woman identified as Nana Akua, known on TikTok as “Mama Gee” or “Akua Sikapa,” was arrested for allegedly breaking into her late friend’s room while dressed as a “ghost.”
The incident occurred on Saturday evening when neighbours noticed movement in the room of Mrs. Osei Bonsu, who passed away a few weeks ago.
Upon entering, they reportedly found Nana Akua, believed to be in her 30s and a close friend of the deceased, dressed in a white cloth covering her head and body. She was allegedly seen removing clothes from the deceased’s wardrobe.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to Adom News, Nana Akua claimed her late friend’s spirit had been disturbing her at night.
She alleged that a fetish priest advised her that the only way to stop the alleged hauntings was to take the deceased’s clothes for a ritual.
The eyewitnesses further said Nana Akua and the late Mrs. Osei Bonsu were members of the same group, with the deceased serving as leader and Nana Akua as her assistant.
Residents rejected her explanation, raised an alarm, and quickly gathered at the scene.
“We saw someone dressed like a ghost trying to unlock the door of the late Mrs. Osei Bonsu. We were afraid because we thought it was a ghost. But we later gathered courage and tried to take a video of the person. When we did that, we realised it was not a ghost because a ghost’s image can’t be captured. We then started shouting ‘thief, thief,’ and the youth around moved in and caught her,” an eyewitness, Matilda, said.
She continued: “When we asked her what her mission was, she said her late friend’s spirit had been disturbing her at night. She said a fetish priest advised her that the only way to stop the hauntings was to take the dead woman’s clothes for a ritual.”
The suspect was later handed over to the Kwadaso Police for questioning.
Police say investigations are underway to establish her motive and determine whether she acted alone.
Community members are calling on the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
