Several parts of Ghana have been hit by a major power outage, leaving homes, businesses and other facilities without electricity in the early hours of Thursday, August 20.
The outage was widely reported in Accra, with residents in areas including Adabraka, Weija, Tesano, Achimota, Dzorwulu, Legon, Madina, Adenta, North Kaneshie and Oyarifa experiencing power interruptions from around 4:15 a.m.
Some communities in the Eastern, Central and Ashanti regions were also reportedly affected.
The cause of the latest outage was not immediately known at the time of reporting, while authorities in the power sector had yet to announce when electricity would be restored to all affected areas.
The development has disrupted activities for residents and businesses that rely on a stable power supply, with many awaiting updates from the relevant authorities.
The latest outage comes about three weeks after a similar widespread power interruption on July 29, which affected several parts of Accra, Tema and Kasoa, as well as communities in the Ashanti and Eastern regions.
