Nigerian music star Davido has denied an alleged Instagram exchange with a young South African woman, insisting that screenshots circulating online are fake.
The controversy erupted after screenshots purportedly showing a private conversation between Davido and a woman identified as Lethabo surfaced on social media.
The alleged exchange appeared to show the singer complimenting her looks and engaging in a flirtatious conversation.
The screenshots quickly sparked debate online, with social media users questioning the nature of the alleged interaction, particularly following Davido’s marriage to his longtime partner, Chioma.
Davido has, however, dismissed the claims and challenged those sharing the screenshots to examine the details more closely.
In a post addressing the controversy, he questioned why adults were believing the screenshots were authentic and shared what he described as an example of how Instagram’s messaging interface should appear.
He pointed to differences between the alleged screenshots and the actual Instagram message layout, using the discrepancies to support his claim that the conversation had been fabricated.
Davido also accused the woman of seeking attention online, describing her as “just a teenager fishing for attention” and criticising social media users for readily accepting the screenshots as genuine.
