The Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has temporarily suspended its ongoing industrial action and directed members to resume work from Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

The Association’s National Executive Committee (NEC) said the suspension will remain in place until after a scheduled meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on Tuesday, August 25.

According to GAUA, the decision is intended to allow further discussions with the FWSC, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Minister for Education on the concerns that led to the strike.

Members have therefore been instructed to return to their duties while negotiations continue.

In a notice to members, the NEC expressed appreciation for their solidarity and support throughout the industrial action and urged them to remain committed to the ongoing discussions.

The Association said members should await further communication after the August 25 meeting, which is expected to determine the next steps in the negotiations.
