The Ghana Physician Assistants Association says they won’t call off their nationwide strike action until their demands are met.
President of the Association, Alhaji Imoro Bandana speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Monday said all physician assistants nationwide have withdrawn all Out-Patients Department (OPD) services from Monday, 10th September 2018.

He said the decision has become necessary because the government and the sector agencies have not shown any commitment to resolving the numerous problems presented to them.
Alhaji Imoro Bandana cited their main concerns as salary discrepancies, obsolete job description, poor conditions of service, career progression/advancement/specialization for physician assistants, financial clearance for both public and privately trained physician assistants, internship allowance, NHIS medicine list among others.

“We took this decision last month hoping that the government will do something about it but we have still not heard from them and so nothing will ever change our minds of calling off the strike,” he said.
He asserted that the Ministry of Health and its implementing agencies, such as the Ghana Health Service and the National Health Insurance Authority, have not shown any commitment to resolving the numerous problems presented.
