Construction work on the LEKMA road

The politics about infrastructural development will be taken a notch higher as the Akufo-Addo government intends to fix a lot of roads across the country.

Delivering the Mid-year Review Budget in Parliament, Monday, Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta said fixing roads will not be a rhetoric but a reality.

He noted that, the days under the erstwhile Mahama administration where Ghanaians were shown roads fixed in pictures in the famous ‘Green Book’ will be a thing of the past.

“The listening and obeying government will fix your roads not with pictures and videos. Fellow Ghanaians, I wish to plead with you, to be patient with us,” he stated.

The Finance Minister said the government had put in place measures to undertake some priority projects in line with improving the socio-economic standards of Ghanaians.

“We have been able to entrench fiscal discipline in our management of the public purse. President Akufo-Addo promised to protect the public purse and that is exactly what we are doing,” he said.

Mr Ofori-Atta stressed that due to the bold decisions they took to fix the recent banking crisis, banks are now richer and stronger and more stable to do business.

This, the Finance Minister believes, will improve the economy by creating more jobs.

“The future is indeed brighter and all I can say is, we thank God for his blessings on Ghana,” he added.
