Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has stated he is unfazed by criticism, insisting his focus remains on constant improvement and consistency between the posts.

Since making his debut in March 2025, the Hearts of Oak shot-stopper has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for the Ghana national football team, despite ongoing scrutiny from sections of supporters.

Speaking to 3Sports, Asare said external opinions do not affect his confidence.

“So I don’t worry about people’s opinion. I know we can make mistakes in life, but I don’t let that burden me,” Asare told 3Sports.

“Today, I can make a mistake but tomorrow I can achieve something great. So, I don’t let some things worry me that much. My encouragement is that God helps me maintain the level that I am now.”

The 31-year-old also addressed perceptions that his rise to the national team has been sudden, stressing that his progress is the result of years of discipline and hard work.

“I’m a committed goalkeeper. Those who don’t know me will think I came from nowhere to the Black Stars,” he added.

Asare further emphasized that squad selection decisions rest solely with the technical team.

“Player appointment and goalkeeper selection are all the work of the coach,” he stated.

He is currently part of Ghana’s squad preparing for the international friendly against Mexico on May 22, 2026. He was called up to replace Dreams FC goalkeeper Gidios Aseako ahead of the fixture.
