Former Deputy Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson is predicting tax increases ahead of the Mid-year budget review.
His prediction, according to him, is based on comments made by Information Minister, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah and other government appointees ahead of the Mid-year Budget Review.

“Brace-up for untold hardship as government is likely to increase tax on fuel (energy sector levies ESLA) and talk tax in its Mid-year review,” he stated in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme, Monday.
Mr Forson bemoaned how a government, which promised to bring respite to Ghanaians, is rather burdening them with more taxes.

“I want to caution government you should be careful not to burden when coming out with a tax policy. An increase in fuel tax will result in a hike in the pump prices of fuel products including LPG and have a cascading effect on price of transportation, prices of goods and services, general cost of living, and eventually on general hardships in the country,” the Former Deputy Finance Minister opined.
Mr Forson, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency in the Central Region, maintained that all the Akufo-Addo government has done is to introduce “economically inefficient policies.”

He urged Ghanaians to brace themselves up for untold hardships because government will “offload its burden on us.”
The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta is expected to present the 2019 Mid-year Budget Review in Parliament on Monday July 29, 2019.
