Black Stars Head coach Kwesi Appiah has included debutants Gideon Waja and Edwin Gyasi in his 24 – man squad for Ghana’s upcoming World Cup double header qualifying games against Congo.
Ghana will host the Red Devils of Congo at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, September 1, before travelling to Brazzaville for the return encounter on Tuesday, September 5.
Waja of Wafa and Gyasi of Norwegian side Aalesund would have their first experience with the senior national team as the team seeks to book a ticket to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Former Ghana U-20 goalkeeper Lawrence Ati and Turkey-based duo of Joseph Attamah Larweh and Isaac Sackey have also been named in the squad for the first time.
Captain Asamoah Gyan and his deputy Andre Ayew have all made the squad for next month’s matches.
The invited players are expected to start arriving in Accra from Monday August 28 to commence preparations towards the two matches against their Congolese counterparts.
