The National Labour Commission has directed striking workers of the National Identification Authority (NIA) to immediately call off their industrial action following a meeting over the dispute on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
The strike was declared by the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU) over delays in the implementation of a migration report concerning staff of the NIA.
According to the Commission, the matter remains pending at the Ministry of Finance.
During proceedings, the PSWU was represented by its General Secretary, while the NIA delegation included the Deputy Executive Secretary in charge of General Services and the Head of Legal.
Officials from the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission also took part in the meeting.
After hearing submissions from both parties, the National Labour Commission directed the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to facilitate the approval and implementation of the migration report for NIA staff by the end of May 2026.
The Commission further ordered the striking workers to suspend the ongoing strike action with immediate effect.
The case has been adjourned to June 4, 2026, for parties to report on compliance with the directives.
