Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira has described Antoine Semenyo as one of the Premier League’s standout performers since his move to Manchester City in January.
The Ghana forward joined from AFC Bournemouth and has been instrumental in Pep Guardiola’s attacking setup.
Semenyo was heavily involved in Sunday’s fixture as Manchester City secured a 2-1 victory over Arsenal, cutting the gap at the top of the table to three points.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Vieira credited the young forward, highlighting his abilities and consistency for the Cityzens.
“He has been one of the best players in the Premier League since January,” the French legend said.
“He came into the team with a strong character and personality. He has been scoring goals, and he has been playing in all the games,” he added.
The 26-year-old has already scored eight goals and recorded three assists across all competitions for the Manchester side, and earned the first major trophy of his professional career, playing a key role in City’s 2-0 triumph over Arsenal in the EFL Cup final.
His versatility in operating across multiple positions, combined with his directness and high work rate, has added a new dimension to Manchester City’s attacking options.
His fine form is also expected to be a major boost for the Black Stars on the global stage, as they aim to at least advance beyond the group stage for the first time since 2010.
