Two people have been left unconscious with two others injured after part of a two-storey building collapsed at Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central region.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News, one of the victims, Maame Attaa, explained that the incident happened during a heavy downpour in the area on Wednesday afternoon.

“I came out of my shop to cover my things when the rain started and suddenly saw part of the building collapse causing an injury to my leg. So I begun screaming to draw attention to rescue a shop attendant and customer who had been trapped in the building,” she narrated.

The Awutu Senya East Municipal National Disaster Management Organisation Director, Yaw Amoah, who also spoke to Adom News, said the owner of the building will be summoned on Thursday.

“I was going on an inspection and had to rush here when I heard of the collapse but when I came, I realised the structure of the building was not safe,” he said.

Two victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment while Miss Attaa and one other have been treated and discharged.
