Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team has secured qualification for a fourth consecutive appearance at the World Athletics Championships after an impressive performance on Saturday.
Team Ghana finished second behind China in a time of 38.09 seconds, clinching the final automatic qualification slot for next year’s championships in Beijing.
The team made a tactical adjustment to its lineup, with Edwin Gadayi moving from the anchor leg to the opening leg, while national 100m record holder Abdul Rasheed Saminu took over anchoring duties.
Benjamin Azamati and Joseph Paul Amoah completed the quartet in a strong and composed display.
The qualification marks another significant milestone for Ghana’s sprint relay programme as the team continues to establish itself on the global stage.
Attention will now turn to the African Athletics Championships, which will be hosted in Accra in May.
