Residents and traders around the Pokuasi ACP Junction interchange construction site are calling on government to pay compensation due them so they can relocate to make space for the construction works.

The traders say the construction has stalled business activities and making life unbearable for them.

Some of the traders who spoke with Adom News explained that in September this year, the government, through the Amasaman Municipal Assembly, assured them of compensations for their relocation even before work starts on the interchange, a promise they have failed to fulfil.

In spite of the failure, the Government, acting through the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), is implementing the Supply and Installation of a Bulk Supply Point (BSP) and Sub-Transmission Interconnecting Circuits in Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana as part of the Ghana Power Compact Program (Compact II).

MiDA is the Accountable Entity overseeing the implementation of the Compact II Program.

MiDA announced to the public that the identification of all Project-Affected-Persons by virtue of a Census and Asset Inventory in the Project footprint was completed on the 21st September 2018.

A number of persons were identified as Project-Affected-Persons by the stipulated deadline of 21st September, 2018 who will be duly compensated in accordance with law.

Following this, a public announcement was made in and around the BSP Site and its environs on 2nd and 3rd October 2018.

But the residents and traders living around the area say the are yet to receive any forms of compensation even though they fall in the category of Project-Affected-Persons.

They have, therefore, served notice that even though they are willing to relocate, they would only do so after they have been duly compensated.
