We all know that the internet can be a horrible place at times, and we’ve probably all been the victim of at least one troll when we’ve been scrolling social media sites.

But one person on TikTok is fighting back against the hate comments they receive, as vicious trolls have targeted them simply because of the way they look.

Victoria, @fatfabfeminist, went viral after she posted a video of herself walking through New York City while rocking sexy lingerie, as she noted it was a great way to make her “feel good” about herself.

During the video, a passerby told Victoria – who uses she/they pronouns – they looked “amazing” – but the clip drew the attention of nasty trolls, who criticised them for “being fat”.

Since the video went viral, Victoria has posted several follow-up clips in which she addresses her critics – and insists she doesn’t care what they have to say.

One video has text on the screen which reads: “Existing as a fat person on the internet”, while Victoria quotes an audio clip that states: “I’d like to apologise to anyone I’ve not offended yet, please be patient. I’ll get to you shortly.”

And in another, they say they don’t understand how people can be so “cruel” when they were just sharing a video that made them “happy”.

They said: “I have a genuine question. What do you gain from being mean to other people? For the last 48 hours I’ve been monitoring my comments, just because you all are so cruel.

“I posted this light-hearted video of me that made me happy, where I felt good, and I wanted to share it with the world. But you took it and were just vile.

“There were so many nice comments too, but I’m just so confused as to what people gain from being so cruel.”

Victoria also noted they’ve been on social media for many years, and have never understood the mentality behind criticising people just because of their weight.

They added: “I’ve been on social media for a very long time. I have been fat my entire life. Nothing that you can say to me will hurt my feelings.

“I know I’m fat, I know what my health is, I know you don’t find me attractive. I know all that, you’re not going to hurt my feelings.

“But I’m confused – what do you gain?”

Despite the haters, Victoria also receives countless uplifting messages from those who praise her for not letting the trolls bring her down.

One person wrote on one video: “Don’t listen to these people, they are so obviously miserable and unhappy with themselves, so they project onto others. You are so beautiful.”
