Johnson Asiedu Nketia, NDC General Secretary

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has accused the incumbent government of being too corrupt saying that corruption is intrinsically fused with its DNA.

His claim comes on the back of the brouhaha surrounding government’s suspension and subsequent termination of the concession agreement with Power Distribution Services.

The concession agreement is part of a deal (Compact II Programme) with the United States that would see Ghana benefit from some $500 million for allowing private sector partnership in the energy sector to boost efficiency.

Addressing the issue in a press conference on Monday, October 21, 2019, Mr Nketia said the Akufo-led government was not interested in protecting the interests of Ghanaians.

“The New Patriotic Party is not in the interest of protecting Ghana but we (NDC) are, there is too much corruption in its DNA,” he posited.

He said the restrictive tender to be employed by the government in selecting a new concessionaire to manage the power sector is laughable and not an option to go by.
