Adom News visited the community to follow up on preparations for the planned event. Speaking to the news outlet, Mathew Baah, the Assembly Member for the Sikaman Electoral Area, said the gathering was intended to help ease tensions within the community.

Mr. Baah described the council’s move as worrying and appealed for mediation and intervention to allow the memorial to take place. He noted that the community had already incurred debts from arrangements and equipment rentals for the ceremony, which is now cancelled.

Residents are calling on government officials and other relevant stakeholders to intervene so they can pay their respects to the deceased.

Checks revealed that traditional leaders in Adansi Akrofuom blocked the ceremony due to a lack of prior communication. They said the decision was made in the best interest of the community, to prevent potential sanctions or disciplinary actions from higher authorities.

Meanwhile, some residents revealed they are still living in fear, with many unable to visit their farms, especially those whose farmlands are near the crash site.

Madam Donkor, the founder and 2024 flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), passed on October 28, 2024, following a brief illness.

The sudden demise occurred at the Ridge Hospital, where she was receiving medical attention.

She was 83.

Clad in red and black attire, the mourners, including people from all political divides, Ejuratia residents, and the media, thronged the Ejuratia funeral grounds to commiserate with the family.

Some of the mourners also wore t-shirts with the inscription ‘3ny3 nono,’ a popular slogan she was known by and that resonated with many Ghanaians.

Visuals of the ceremony, which have gone viral, captured moments of mixed feelings.

The one week celebration of the icon, who made the profession attractive for other Kumawood stakeholders, is being held at the venue.

Members of the Creative Arts Industry have graced the event to commiserate with the grieving family and offer their support.

The likes of Grace Omaboe (Maame Dokono), Abrobe, Bob Smith Jnr (Diaboloman), Aneiku Sagoe, Nana CK, Mark Okraku Mantey, George Quaye (Aboagye) and members of the Obra Group were present.

Mourners were in a somber mood when mother of the deceased was dancing her sorrows away during a live band performance of some highlife medley.
