The donation comes weeks after Mr. Abradu and his wife, Sarah, visited the Adom FM studio to publicly appeal for support.

Narrating his ordeal, Mr. Abradu recounted a painful medical journey that began three to four years ago when he started experiencing severe eye problems. Initially diagnosed with glaucoma, he had to visit the hospital every two weeks, spending about GH₵300 per visit.

A friend later recommended a specialist at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, and he was subsequently taken to a medical facility at Spintex for further examination.

Given the urgency, he was referred to the Accra Medical Centre for treatment rather than Korle Bu, where he was presented with an estimated bill of nearly GH₵1.2 million for a three-day surgery.

The donation, though not the full amount, is expected to kickstart the process.

Lead Producer Kofi Assan, who presented the cheque, lauded listeners for their immense contribution.

Mr. and Mrs. Abradu expressed gratitude to Adom FM listeners for their support and further appealed to groups and all well-meaning Ghanaians to come to their aid, noting that they still have a long way to go in raising the required amount for the surgery.

Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem gets results: Dying man ‘abandoned’ by family steps on recovery path [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/adom-fms-dwaso-nsem-gets-results-dying-man-abandoned-by-family-steps-on-recovery-path-video/ Fri, 05 Nov 2021 13:29:07 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2039212 Jacob Kofi Tutu, who was involved in an accident in 2016 that affected both legs and has since been bedridden, did not expect to survive the harrowing journey.

However, the bold decision of an ambulance driver with the Cape Coast North constituency, John Kwesi Abraham, on May 27, 2021, changed his story for good.

Mr Abraham in the early hours of that fateful day drove the patient who had been abandoned by his family to the Adom FM studio at Kokomlemle, Accra.

This, according to the driver, was after he was called to take the man to the hospital but considering the terrible condition he found the latter in, he decided to come to the studio to generate funds for Mr Tutu to seek medical care.

The distraught driver narrated the victim’s family had given up on him after all efforts to raise funds for medical care proved futile.

About five months after, smiles are beaming on the face of Mr Tutu through the benevolence of Dwaso Nsem listeners who made several donations to cater for his medical care.

The 28-year-old man is now able to sit and move around by himself in a wheelchair following knee surgery at the Winneba Trauma Hospital about two weeks ago.

A physiotherapist at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital is currently assisting Mr Tutu with the recovery process through physical activities.

READ ON:

The patient, when fully recovered in his knees, will be transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for another surgery which is expected to ensure his total recovery.

Aside undergoing a successful surgery and currently responding to treatment, the girl, through the help of the Ghana Girls Guide Group, has been ‘adopted’ by one Daniel Asem based in the United States.

Mr Asem has already provided accommodation – fully furnished – for her and her father. This is aside the assurance given by Mr Asem that he will see her through school to the tertiary level.

A psychologist has also been assigned to the little girl to help her deal with the psychological trauma of her ordeal.

Justice has also been served as the 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to 18 years in imprisonment.

The help came thanks to the decision of Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem team to take up the matter.

MORE STORIES:

Another sorrowful story turned into a joyful one by the Adom FM Dwaso Nsem team, was the story of a lady, identified as Comfort, whose husband abandoned her and her three children after the husband impregnated her 13-year-old niece living with them at the time.

She said life became very difficult for her and her three children after being abandoned.

She recalled the moment she gave birth to her third child and had to be discharged from the hospital on the benevolence of a stranger.

With her also, the Adom FM Dwaso Nsem team took up her issue and requested for assistance from well-meaning Ghanaians.

Today, through the benevolence of Ghanaians, Comfort now owns her own tailoring shop and is able to feed herself and her three children.

She was full of smiles and seemed to have gained weight when she visited the studios of Adom FM on Monday.
