The Police command in Tamale in the Northern region has arrested one person in connection with the murder of a female police officer.

The suspect, whose name was given as Yakubu, is allegedly one out of the four masked gunmen clad in military uniform who shot Corporal Agartha Nana Nabin at a police checkpoint in the Sagnarigu Municipality.

The arrest comes a day after the visit of Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong Boanu.

Adom News’ Northern Regional correspondent, Illiasu Abdul Rauf, reported that the police arrested the suspect at his residence last night.

Upon the arrest, he said the police found guns, military uniforms and other riffles in his room.

In his attempt to escape, Illiasu said the suspect attacked a police officer but was shot at the scene.

Yakubu is currently in custody at the Tamale Regional police station to assist in investigations.

Meanwhile, a specialised team from the police headquarters, has since been dispatched by the acting IGP to begin investigations to find her killers.
