The Ghana Police Service has been urged to deploy intelligence assets including the ‘Anas Principle’ to fight criminal activities that are surging in the country.
A United States-based lecturer, Prof. Kwaku Asare, who disclosed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen show, Thursday said Police all over the world rely on informants in criminal investigations and detection of crimes.
He said it was, therefore, necessary for the police to have good and timeous informants who would provide important information to them.

Prof. Asare noted that just like investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’, the security agencies must adopt pro-active measures including intelligence gathering to enable them identify, monitor and apprehend suspects easily.
“I think our security agencies are doing well but what I think is that more needs to be done so that we don’t witness kidnapping and armed robberies and so on. The government must devote more assets to intelligence.

“I don’t like the notion that when there is a crime we pick on foreigners. I think the police itself should have paid informants to report suspicious behaviours. They should have something like Anas’ way of dealing with criminal activities and I think when they start that way, our problems would be solved,” he said.
