Students of Bikpajaba D/A Junior High School in the Tatale – Sanguli District of the Northern region are forced to study under trees after their death-trap school structure collapsed.

Adom News’ visit to the school revealed that the school children walk many kilometres away from where they stay to get access to education.

Like the many schools with dilapidated infrastructure, the Bikpajaba community school has no classrooms so pupils are forced to study under trees since their mud-made local building in the community collapsed.

The School Prefect (SP) of Bikpajaba Junior High School, Ubore Prosper told Adom News, during the visit that they are forced to study under trees because their classrooms have become a death trap after a larger part of the building came down several months ago.

The school prefect said they have no option than to use the under of trees as classrooms to study.

He appealed to authorities to come to their aid.

The School Prefect revealed that they are made to close anytime there was a sign of rains coming, which he said was affecting their studies.

Prosper added that some of his colleagues have become dropouts because of the poor nature of the school. He called on NGOs to also intervene.

The girl’s prefect of the school, Landoo Esi, also added that not only are the infrastructure dilapidated but they also lack desks.

District Chief Executive of Tatale – Sanguli, Thomas Mbomba said, he was working very hard to get the students some classrooms.

He described the development as very worrying.

The DCE said he is putting measures in place to get the situation resolved.
