The Minister of State in charge of National Security, Bryan Acheampong has described the NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah’s endorsement of vigilante group as being of no relevance.
Mr Acheampong’s description comes after Johnson Asiedu Nketiah defended the emergence of vigilante groups within his party.
Mr Nketiah’s defence was a reaction to the public uproar over the outdooring of a new NDC vigilante group during his party’s regional elections in Sunyani.

The Former Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yamin stormed the venue in the company of a group known as “The Hawks”.
Mr Nketiah said the emergence of groups like the Hawks is “an appropriate natural response” to the President’s failure to clamp down on vigilantism in the country.
He, subsequently, refused to condemn the incident, rather stating that “I endorse it fully”.
It is on this backdrop the Minister of National Security Bryan Acheampong said Asiedu Nketiah’s comment is of no relevance and shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Speaking on Adom FM’s current affairs show, Burning Issues, Mr Acheampong said this wasn’t the first time Mr Nketiah was making such comments, adding that his statement has no value.
He said citizens in the country are seeking job opportunities and it is the core mandate of the president to provide opportunities instead of entertaining comments that will not bring any development to the country.
Bryan Acheampong said he and his outfit are ready to combat any unlawful act of vigilantism in the country.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Josephine Nkrumah has urged warned political parties to stop interfering in the activities of the security services.
She said the political parties push their members into the security service for them to misbehave and later come to the tell public their mistrust in the services.
Josephine Nkrumah said citizens in the country do not respect security agencies and are not respected due to the interruptions from political parties.
