Police at Mpraeso in the Eastern region have apprehended four persons suspected to be among a gang of armed robbers terrorising traders and commuters on the Brebesua-Kotoso road.

The suspect on Tuesday robbed some victims returning from a market of their cash, mobile phones and other personal belongings.

A team of police officers from Mpraeso led by district commander, ASP Francis Oppong Agyare, however, arrested Eric Ansong Yeboah  38,  Kwadwo Afriyie  29, Kofi Amoakoh, 40, and Owiredu Ansong 33 upon intelligence.

A fifth suspect, Bright Asare is now at large.

The police officers during the operation retrieved a single barrel short gun and six cartridges.

Regional police PRO, DSP Ebenezer Tettehin a statement explained a lady victim who identified one of the robbers and made it known to him is receiving treatment at the Kotoso health center after being brutalized by suspect.

DSP Tetteh says the suspects are in police custody will be put before court.

  1. Where are the mobile phones, the monies and the personal belongings of the victims? Why not displayed. Just tarnishing the images of innocent people. The one in possession of the gun and his siblings were born by a hunter.
