A social commentator, Augustine Kena Brown, popular known as “Okra”, has been hospitalised after being flogged by an unknown assailant in Assin Fosu.

According to the victim, the incident happened between the Assin Fosu Municipal Assembly complex and the Fosu District court.

The incident happened around 6:45 PM Monday but Brown could not identify the person who perpetrated the act because there was no light on that stretch.

The victim explained that the attacker suddenly rushed at him from behind and struck his head with a stick.

The suspect then did a follow-up with another strike on the right eye and the mouth.

The victim who was saddened by the situation started running helter-skelter and screening for help after failing to put up a self-defence.

The suspect allegedly jumped into a nearby bush after residents around the area came to the scene.

Augustine Brown, who had blood oozing from his eyes, nose and the mouth after he had been left off the hook, rushed to the St. Francis Hospital for treatment.

His family members have since lodged an official complaint at the Assin Fosu police station for further investigation.

Police say an investigation is still underway to bring the perpetrator to book.

No arrest has been made so far.
