One person has died while three others sustained injuries after a trailer truck transporting tiles from Takoradi to Burkina Faso crashed at Kariminga in the North East Region.
The accident occurred on Thursday, June 18, when the trailer reportedly veered off the road and rammed into several trees after the driver attempted to avoid colliding with a tricycle that had crossed its path.

The impact left the trailer’s head extensively damaged, trapping all four occupants inside the vehicle.
Rescue teams and emergency personnel rushed to the scene and successfully rescued three male occupants, who were later transported to the Upper East Regional Hospital for treatment.

A female occupant, however, was found dead at the scene. Her body has since been handed over to the police for preservation and further investigation.
Preliminary reports indicate that the trailer was transporting Twyford tiles from Takoradi to Burkina Faso when the crash occurred. The impact destroyed a significant portion of the cargo, although some boxes of tiles were salvaged.
Authorities have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident.
