A father of a student of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), who was allegedly sexually abused by the interdicted headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai, says some parents of affected students are being threatened to abandon the matter.

John Kwaku Bobena made the allegation in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, insisting that the case should be allowed to follow its course without intimidation.

According to him, the matter has been under investigation at the Tutuka Police Station for several months, with recent developments raising questions about the progress and outcome of the investigations.

Mr Bobena said he was recently contacted by a radio station and informed that investigations had found no wrongdoing on the part of the headmaster.

He, however, maintained that the matter should not be dismissed as a personal vendetta against the school’s head.

“I am a cocoa farmer, so what business do I have with a headmaster? Nobody hates him, and this is not a personal vendetta,” he said.

Mr Bobena also claimed that his daughter was not the only student involved, alleging that several other students had been affected.

He explained that another of his daughters had completed the same school the previous year without making similar allegations, questioning suggestions that the current case was motivated by personal grievances.

“One of my daughters completed the school last year, so why didn’t I come up with such an allegation then?” he asked.

Despite the concerns surrounding the case, Mr Bobena expressed hope that the truth would emerge and justice would be served.

“I want to thank God that we are getting on the path of truth and justice. Whatever the outcome, God will see us through,” he said.

He also said he had not personally followed the latest news reports on the matter, explaining that he did not own a radio.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted Mr. Abdulai with immediate effect, pending a full-scale investigation into the allegations.

Mr Abdulai has been directed to proceed on interdiction with immediate effect and make himself available to assist with the investigation.

He is also required to hand over the management of the school to the Ashanti Regional Director of Education.

The GES further disclosed that a formal complaint had been lodged with the police as investigations into the matter continue.
