Suame Member of Parliament John Darko has denied any involvement in a post-litigation settlement between SIC Savings and Loans and Equity Savings and Loans, insisting that he played no part in any alleged scheme to deny SIC the benefits of court awards.

The denial follows his appearance before investigators of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, to assist with ongoing investigations into the matter.

In a press statement issued by his lawyers, Darko, Keli-Delataa Company (DK & Co), the MP said the questioning focused on his role as legal counsel for Equity during its litigation with SIC over a matured but unpaid investment, as well as his membership of Equity’s board between 2015 and 2023.

The lawyers explained that their firm’s involvement was limited to the litigation and the recovery of part of the judgment awards made in favour of SIC.

They said the firm had no involvement in any subsequent settlement between the two companies and was unaware of Equity’s decision to dispose of land that was the subject of a judicial attachment to a third party, ECOSWISS.

“Before these post-judgment events, our firm had already terminated extension of legal services to Equity on account of non-payment for legal services,” the statement said.

The firm further stressed that Darko had ceased to be a board member of Equity by September 2023 and was not involved in any decision to compromise a court judgment.

It maintained that the MP was not a participant in any alleged conspiratorial scheme to deprive SIC of the benefits of its judicial awards.

According to the lawyers, Darko remains committed to EOCO’s investigations and is prepared to provide any further assistance concerning his role and that of the firm in the matter.

The statement also commended EOCO’s investigators for their professionalism during the questioning and the courtesies extended to the MP.

Reassuring the public about their conduct, the lawyers said both Darko and the firm had maintained ethical and professional standards throughout their representation of Equity.

“We have always been guided by the principle that our profession will be a lot poorer if it allows lawyers to do as practitioners what they would not do as private persons,” the statement added.
