The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted the Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Zakaria Abdulai, over allegations of sexual misconduct involving students.
The interdiction, announced in a statement dated October 14, 2026, will remain in force pending a full-scale investigation into the allegations.
According to the GES, the alleged incident reportedly triggered a student rampage at the school, resulting in the destruction of school property and other items, as well as the institution’s temporary closure.
Mr Abdulai has been directed to proceed on interdiction with immediate effect and make himself available to assist with the investigation.
He is also required to hand over the management of the school to the Ashanti Regional Director of Education.
The GES further disclosed that a formal complaint had been lodged with the police as investigations into the matter continue.
In the statement signed by its Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the Service assured students and staff of its commitment to their safety and to upholding professional standards.
The allegations against the headmaster have not yet been established, and the investigation is expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
