New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser, Sammi Awuku, says the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantkyi did not finance the campaign of the party in the 2016 elections.

The statement was in reaction to comments by National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communicator, Sammy Gyamfi on Peace FM Friday that the embattled FA Boss is a well-known sympathizer of the NPP and a financier.

But Sammi Awuku said the assertion is false as Nyantakyi is not in the books of the party as a financier.

“I have worked at the party for years to know who financed the party or otherwise…I don’t have it on record that Nyantakyi financed NPP, Nyantakyi did not donate to the NPP…,” he said.

According to him, Nyantakyi may have given monies to individual members of the NPP to support them one way or the other but not to the party.

“Maybe, he donated to individuals which is allowed but not to the party…,” he added.

Mr Nyantakyi was invited by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with investigations into fraud allegations.

It follows a complaint made by President Akufo-Addo accusing Mr Nyantakyi of using his name fraudulently.

The complaint follows an investigative piece, Number 12, by Anas Aremeyaw Anas about rot in Ghana football.

The President arrived at the decision after he and his team watched excerpts of the video in which Nyantakyi was seen negotiating for an amount of money, using his name and that of other government officials.
