The Ghana Police Service is investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a policeman who is alleged to have taken his life at Nungua on Sunday.

Sergeant Emmanuel Amede [with service number 34586 ] is said to have shot himself with his official AK 47 rifle, which he booked from work.

According to the wife of the deceased, the 44-year-old woke up from sleep and drove her and the children out of the room, before shooting himself.

She said although her cry for help drew the attention of some neighbours in the barracks who are also police officers, there was little they could do because Mr Amede immediately shot himself.
