President Muhammadu Buhari (L) of Nigeria and President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana

Vice President of Groupe Nduom, Nana Ofori Owusu, has quizzed the incumbent government on its plan to ensure trade balance, economic diversity and growth.

According to him, he doesn’t see anything wrong with Nigeria’s decision to close its borders because they are finding ways to grow their economy which is a caution to Ghanaians to sit up.

“About 90-95% of Nigeria’s economy is based on oil, Ghanaians are always boasting of diversity in our economy. In Ghana when it comes to trade and balancing we import more rice than we grow in the country, so what are we really doing?” he quizzed.

Mr Owusu stressed on the need for Ghana to be strategic about ways to grow.

They [Nigeria] have decided to kick-start their domestic agricultural economy that has been neglected for so long and are looking for ways to bring advantage to their local farmers. These are ways they are growing their local economy,” he told Accra-based Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.
