The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given members and aspirants involved in its ongoing reorganisation exercise five days to comply with new rules governing the size and display of campaign posters and banners.

The party has capped the dimensions of campaign materials at five feet wide and eight feet high, warning that those who deliberately breach the directive will face disciplinary action.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 9, and signed by General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC expressed concern over the display of oversized posters and banners by some members and aspirants at various locations across the country.

The party said the decision followed deliberations by its Functional Executive Committee (FEC) at a meeting held on Tuesday, October 6.

According to the statement, the restrictions are intended to promote discipline and order throughout the reorganisation process while ensuring that all aspirants have a fair opportunity to campaign for positions within the party.

The FEC has also directed that campaign posters and banners be displayed only at approved locations, including constituency and regional party offices, as well as designated election grounds.

The directive prohibits the placement of campaign materials at locations that have not been authorised by the party.

The NDC said the measures were also aimed at ensuring that its activities reflect the restraint expected of a political party in government.

“FEC is further conscious that, as the party in government, the NDC must lead by example through modesty and restraint and must avoid any display of extravagance or perception of it that is inconsistent with the values we espouse and the expectations of the Ghanaian people.”

The party has urged affected members and aspirants to make the required changes within the five-day period to avoid possible sanctions.
