The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has assured Nurse Salomey Awiti Baffoe of its continued support as she faces prosecution in the ongoing Ghana Jollof case.
The Association’s National President, Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, gave the assurance during a visit to Nurse Baffoe in the Bono Region on the opening day of the National Executive Committee’s Phase Three Regional Tour.
Mrs Ofori-Ampofo said the GRNMA had monitored the case since it began and had arranged legal representation to assist the nurse through the judicial process.
She explained that although the allegations against Nurse Baffoe were unrelated to her professional responsibilities, the Association remained committed to protecting the welfare and interests of its members.
The GRNMA said it would continue to provide the necessary assistance as the case progresses.
Nurse Baffoe is facing a charge of abetment of crime, specifically the publication of false news, under Sections 20(1) and 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
The prosecution’s case is linked to allegations that she assisted Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as Ghana Jollof, in circulating videos and recruiting other people to distribute the content.
The allegations are yet to be established in court, and Nurse Baffoe has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The GRNMA’s visit forms part of its engagement with members during the regional tour, with the Association reiterating its commitment to their welfare and support in matters affecting them.
