The government is moving ahead with plans to establish a National Data Exchange Hub to enable public institutions to share information more efficiently and improve the delivery of digital services.
Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, said the initiative is part of the US$50 million Ghana Digital Acceleration Project (GDAP), which is being supported by the World Bank.
The project also includes last-mile connectivity and other interventions aimed at accelerating Ghana’s digital transformation.
Mr George disclosed that preparations for the National Data Exchange Hub, alongside the modernisation of the National Data Centres in Accra and Kumasi, have reached the international review stage.
He said the infrastructure would enhance interoperability between government institutions and make it easier to provide efficient and integrated digital public services.
The Minister was speaking at the Government Accountability Series at Jubilee House in Accra on Monday, September 7, 2026.
He said government’s digitalisation agenda was not merely about deploying technology but about developing systems that directly improve the lives of citizens.
“Technology must serve people,” Mr George stressed, emphasising that digital transformation must translate into better public services and greater opportunities for Ghanaians.
