General Secretary to the National Cathedral Board of Trustees has revealed the construction of the national monument is expected to be completed within five years.

According to Reverend Kusi Boateng, the Board of Trustees largely constituted by heads of various church groups are working effectively to ensure the successful completion of the project.

“We are 70% through with the documentation and by early 2020, we will begin the construction and within five years we are going to finish by the grace of God,” he said confidently.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Rev Kusi Boateng explained the Board is committed to the mandate bestowed on them by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

“It has been a very difficult journey but the commitment of the trustees have been amazing and they are all doing this as a sacrificial job without any allowance or anything from government,” he said.

He assured the Board will account for all proceeds from the construction of the cathedral and look forward to supporting developmental projects in Ghana.

“There are many men and women who have pledged support and have demonstrated willingness to support the construction. I can assure you no money from the cathedral will be wasted,” he said.
