Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has pledged to strengthen the ideological, research and training structures of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if elected National Vice Chairman.
Dr Abdul-Hamid made the commitment on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, after submitting his nomination forms to contest the position.
He said his decision to enter the race was driven by his desire to help restore the party’s ideological direction and strengthen its intellectual capacity as it undergoes a period of reorganisation.
According to him, the NPP requires leadership with a strong understanding of political theory and ideology to guide the party’s rebuilding process.
Dr Abdul-Hamid, who is also a university lecturer and researcher, said he intends to bring his academic experience to bear on the party’s development.
He promised to improve the party’s research capacity and make intellectual resources more accessible to party members and leadership.
A major component of his agenda, he said, would be to expand training programmes for young members and party communicators, particularly in ideological education.
He believes such training would help members better understand, internalise and communicate the principles and values of the NPP.
Dr Abdul-Hamid also announced plans to strengthen the activities of the Patriotic Institute, the party’s training and ideological development institution.
He said that if elected as a national executive, he would work towards developing structured curricula and organising regular training programmes for young party members through the institute.
The former NPA CEO said his academic background, research experience and knowledge would form an important part of his contribution to the NPP.
“I want to put my intellectual resources at the disposal of the party,” he said.
