Former Awutu Senya East Member of Parliament, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has pledged to rebuild the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Women’s Wing and mobilise women across the country to help the party return to power in 2028.
She made the commitment after filing her nomination to contest the position of National Women’s Organiser of the NPP.
Ms Koomson, a former Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, is one of two candidates seeking to lead the party’s Women’s Wing.
She arrived at the party’s headquarters to submit her nomination forms accompanied by a large group of supporters, including 10 of the 16 Regional Women Organisers and several constituency-level women organisers.
Addressing the gathering after filing her nomination, Ms Koomson said her years of service and contribution to the NPP had positioned her strongly for the contest.
She maintained that her record within the party was evidence of her commitment and ability to deliver results.
“My work speaks for me,” she said, stressing her determination to work towards restoring the NPP to government.
Ms Koomson, however, expressed concern about the current state of the party’s Women’s Wing, describing it as inactive and in need of urgent revitalisation.
She promised to embark on a nationwide tour to reorganise the wing, strengthen its structures and reconnect with women at the grassroots.
According to her, rebuilding the Women’s Wing would be central to the NPP’s efforts to regain public support and secure victory in the 2028 general elections.
She urged party members and delegates to support her candidature, assuring them of her commitment to mobilising women and strengthening the party at all levels.
