Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has pledged to expand the party’s presence across the country if elected National First Vice Chairman.
Mr Ahiagbah made the commitment after submitting his nomination forms to the National Officers Elections Committee to contest the position.
He is among 13 aspirants who have so far picked nomination forms for the National First Vice Chairman position.
According to Mr Ahiagbah, his candidacy represents the interests of the party’s rank-and-file members, and his election would mark a new phase in the NPP’s efforts to rebuild following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
He said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) benefited from a strong nationwide presence during the 2024 campaign and believes the NPP must adopt a similar approach to regain support.
Mr Ahiagbah said his priority would be to strengthen the party’s structures across the country and reconnect the leadership with grassroots members.
“I will paint Ghana blue,” he declared, stressing his determination to make the NPP more visible and competitive in communities across the country.
He also called on delegates to choose a First Vice Chairman who would be able to work effectively with the National Chairman to rebuild the party and restore its connection with its base.
A member of the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC), Frank Davies, commended Mr Ahiagbah for his years of service to the NPP.
Mr Davies urged all aspirants to conduct their campaigns peacefully and focus on presenting ideas and solutions rather than resorting to personal attacks or insults.
The NPP is scheduled to elect its national officers from September 18 to 20, 2026, as part of efforts to restructure the party and position it for future elections.
