A mum left badly burned after acid was thrown in her face on the doorstep of her home could lose her sight in one eye, it is claimed.
Theresa McCann was rushed to hospital after suffering burns to her face, neck and arms in what police believe was a targeted attack.
The 37-year-old had answered the door of her home in Edinburgh when a masked man splashed a corrosive liquid over her face.
A family source told the Daily Record that it was “touch and go” whether Ms McCann would lose the sight in one eye as she recovers from life-changing injuries.
It is understood that Theresa has had plastic surgery to a damaged ear following Friday night’s attack.
A boy suffered burns to his feet after standing in some of the liquid which had spilled on the floor.
Police have asked the public to help them find the acid attacker.
The thug is believed to have escaped in a getaway car.

The attack happened at the home Theresa shares with her businessman partner Thomas Tams in Edinburgh’s Grace Mount area. He rushed Theresa to the bathroom to try to wash off the liquid.
The bungalow was sealed off at the weekend to allow forensic experts to examine it.
Staining from the liquid could be seen on the doorstep.
Police Scotland said last night: “Our inquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”
The attacker was described as slim, 5ft 11in tall and in his early 20s, and was wearing a grey hooded top and gloves.
Detective Inspector Stevie Rosie said: “Anyone who recognises him, or who has any other relevant information, should contact police immediately.”
