The Member of Parliament for Kpandai Constituency, Hon. Mathew Nyindam, has questioned the removal of an electricity transformer he donated to the Kpandai Hospital to support the facility’s growing power needs.
According to the MP, the hospital’s management approached his office requesting assistance after the expansion of facilities increased the hospital’s electricity demand.
Mr. Nyindam said he responded by donating a transformer to help improve the power supply and ensure efficient healthcare delivery at the facility.
However, he later discovered that the transformer had been removed and replaced with another one.
Speaking in an interview, the MP said he was informed that the transformer he donated allegedly had technical challenges and could not adequately supply power to the hospital.
“I donated the transformer after the hospital management came to my office seeking assistance because their facilities had expanded and the existing power supply was not sufficient. What I did not know is Kpandai politics. I will not say much, but the transformer is still for the people of Kpandai,” he said.
Meanwhile, Adom News affiliate reporter Prince Busula contacted officials to seek clarification on the matter.
According to the response received, the removal and replacement of the transformer were carried out following instructions from higher authorities within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo).
