Driver Tony Kwaku Ann Bedu and his conductor Samuel Larbi, of a Kpassa-based Metro Mass Transit (MMT) bus, with registration number GR 4417-12 loaded with ammunition are set to be arraigned before court today.

The duo was arrested by the Nkwanta Police after they intercepted one (1) SMG raffle plus 3 packets of metal cache, consisting of 2,100 rounds of ammunition at Nkwanta on the Kpassa-Bimbila road of the Eastern corridor.

The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Doku, who confirmed this on Adom FM’s morning show “Dwaso Nsem” Tuesday said the driver and conductor of the said bus were arrested for illegal possession of ammunitions.

He said investigations were still on-going to ascertain whether the driver owned the ammunition or he was asked to deliver them without his knowledge.

The Nkwanta Police intercepted the bus which had ammunition concealed under the passenger seats and booth, during a random search on the bus at the Nkwanta Police barrier on Sunday evening.
