Ghana High Commissioner to South Africa, HE George Ayisi Boateng has called on Ghanaians asking him to apologise for making divisive comments to give him a break as according to him, late President Evans Mills made worst divisive statements in 2009.
The Ambassador addressing members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) student wing, Tertiary Students’ Confederacy Network (TESCON) in Kumasi, said the interest of NPP members are his priority as an Ambassador.
He explained that it is by dint of the hard work party loyalists put in, that saw the party recapture power so it will be the right thing to do.
The Ambassador urged other government appointees to do same.
The comment has roundly been condemned with some Ghanaians, especially members of the opposition calling on him to resign.
One of such persons is the Central Regional NDC, Bernard Alotey Jacobs who has been calling on President Akufo-Addo to fire him.
But speaking of Kro Yi Mu Nsem on Nhyira FM, Ayisi Boateng said he doesn’t see anything wrong with what he told the TESCON members.
According to him, the late President Mills in 2009 instructed all then DCEs to create avenue for NDC foot soldiers which more divisive.
“When NDC won power in 2009 and were chasing National Health Insurance and school feeding (officers), what did President Mills say? I remember that President Mills said he has directed MCEs and DCEs to see to the welfare of NDC footsoldiers…compare that to my comment, which one is too divisive?” he quizzed.
