The Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, Abronye DC, has rated the appointment of Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor as higher than the free Senior High School (SHS) programme.
The rating, he said, is based on the fact that corruption has been the bane of the country’s development and someone like Martin Amidu is the ‘right’ person to help fight it.
“I had rated the Free SHS as the best thing Nana Addo has done so far but I think the appointment of Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor beats that, yes, it is way above that. I think this appointment is the best thing Nana Addo has done so far…,” he said.
Martin Amidu was named the Special Prosecutor by the President at a short ceremony at the Flagstaff House yesterday.
Many have since welcomed his nomination.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’, Friday, Abronye DC rated the decision to nominate Mr. Amidu as the Special Prosecutor as one which has surpassed most popular policies of the government.
He explained that the appointment of a SP goes beyond partisan considerations, noting that even though Mr. Amidu is a founding member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a member of its National Council of Elders, it is his qualification and competence that matters.
He has called on Ghanaians from all sectors of the society to refrain from acts such as pleadings on behalf of suspected criminals or even the stealing of dockets built for the prosecution cases.
“Allow him to prosecute all cases to their logical conclusions because by the nature of Martin Amidu, any interference will see him walk out of the job and that will be an indictment on the appointing authority,” he said.
