The Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalization Committee, Dr. Kofi Amoah, has warned that Black Stars Head Coach, Kwesi Appiah, will be sacked if he fails to win the AFCON 2019 in Egypt.

According to him, the country has been waiting for the AFCON trophy for too long so President Akufo-Addo has tasked the Black Stars to bring home the trophy this time.

In an interview on Adom TV’s ‘Fire for fire’ with Countryman Songo, Dr. Amoah disclosed that government has decided to extend Coach Kwesi Appiah’s contract to cover the AFCON period and that, they will ensure they get their money’s worth since he is being paid.

“Per the contract, if Kwesi Appiah doesn’t win the AFCON 2019, he is gone. He can also be sacked during the competition if he is performing poorly because coaches can be fired at any time”, he explained.

Having won the continental trophy on four occasions, the Black Stars has failed to win it for the past 37 years.

Ghana has already qualified to this year’s showpiece to be staged in Eygpt.

Ghana will have a tall mountain to climb as the countries have been increased from 16 to 24.
