President John Dramani Mahama has marked this year’s Workers’ Day with a strong message of appreciation for Ghanaian workers, while signalling a strategic shift in government focus from economic stabilisation to accelerated growth and job creation.
In a May Day message themed Beyond Stability: Building the New Ghana, the President said his administration has successfully restored macroeconomic stability under the #ResettingGhana agenda and is now moving into what he described as an aggressive pivot to growth.
According to him, the early phase of governance was focused on stabilising the economy, but the next stage will prioritise expanding economic opportunities in ways that directly improve workers’ incomes and livelihoods.
“We are not just managing the economy; we are expanding it to ensure that every worker feels the benefit in their pocket,” he stated.
President Mahama commended Ghanaian workers for their resilience and contribution to national development, describing them as the backbone of the country’s transformation process despite recent economic pressures.
He stressed that the government’s renewed focus will centre on productivity, economic expansion, and job creation, aimed at ensuring that growth translates into tangible benefits for citizens.
Concluding his message, the President extended warm May Day wishes to workers across the country, describing them as “the engines of our national transformation.”
